ROUND 5 CIV – RMU Racing Team
Growth weekend for RMU Racing Team in the fifth round of the Italian CIV Championship, good performance for the riders
Reggio Emilia, 24 September 2019 – The fifth weekend of races at Mugello Circuit has just ended, with the double date of the 2019 CIV Championship. The weekend was characterized by variable weather and wet race on Sunday, that made the track difficult to race in.
Saturday, September 21st, Race 1 was held. Good Qualifying for Matteo Boncinelli who obtained the second position in Q1, then P10 in the combined Qualifying. Twelfth place at the start of the race for Mattia Rato. Boncinelli made a good start and immediately joined the leading group, embarking on a great bagarre and fighting for the first position. Unfortunately, on the eleventh lap he was hit by another rider and this forced him to interrupt the race, while he was making fast laps. Good pace for Mattia Rato as well who finished in twelfth position but following a decision of the race direction he ended the day in seventh place.
In the PreMoto 3 class Andrea Natali fell in Free Practice and sprained his ankle, then he failed to participate in the Qualifying and the Saturday race because he was ill. A very unfortunate weekend start for him. Excellent performance and second place by Filippo Farioli on RMU client of the Pasini Racing Team, after obtaining the pole position.
Wet race for Race 2 on Sunday 22 September. Wet track with rain ending a few minutes before the start of the race and thus creating very difficult track conditions. Trying to accumulate experience in a track with these conditions, Boncinelli ends the race in thirteenth position. Technical problem for Rato just a few laps from the start.
Race 2 PreMoto 3 was very positive for Andrea Natali, he managed to finish the race in sixth position and recover a negative weekend start, starting from the nineteenth place on the starting grid.
The next round will take place at Autodromo Vallelunga Piero Taruffi 5 and 6 October.
Alessandro Ruozi, Team Coordinator
“Positive weekend especially for the team. On Saturday, Boncinelli was the only rider to make seven laps in 1’59 ’’, while Rato made five. These results determine the team’s excellent work and the consistency of the riders, all that is missing is the podium which is within our reach. For Natali the weekend started uphill but ended with an excellent sixth place on Sunday considering the start from the back rows due to the flu that didn’t allow him to run Friday and Saturday.”
