Reggio Emilia 8 October 2019, The sixth and final round of the Italian CIV Championship ended last weekend at Autodromo Piero Taruffi in Vallelunga where the eleventh and twelfth race of the season took place. Both the VR46 #RMU Sky Junior Team riders demonstrated to be fast since Free Practice despite some difficulties. A fall in Qualifying 2 did not allow Elia Bartolini to express himself at his best, still managing to improve the Q1 time and starting on the grid in fifth position. Good performance for Lorenzo Bartalesi who closed the Qualifying in seventh position.

Race 1

Good start in Saturday’s race for both riders who immediately joined the leading group. For the first part of the race, up to the fourth lap, Bartolini kept the pace of the first riders but a small mistake made him lose ground. Nevertheless he maintained a good pace for the duration of the race finishing in fourth position. Fifth position for Bartalesi, who after a good start risked a fall on the ninth lap while he was catching up with the leaders of the race.

Race 2

On Sunday both riders replicate the excellent start of the previous race. Bartalesi stays with the group fighting for the podium throughout the race and concluded in fourth position. A complicated day for Bartolini who remained among the top positions closing in third place, but was first penalized for exceeding track limits and subsequently disqualified for dangerous conduct as judged by the race direction.

The season ends with a seventh place for Lorenzo Bartalesi and an eight place for Elia Bartolini in the overall standings, with a recovery in the second part of the season after a difficult Championship start characterized by falls and injuries.

Ramona Gattamelati – Team Coordinator

“This year was characterized by great satisfactions but several errors did not allow us to try and win the Championship until the end. Elia and Lorenzo, with the right support of the team, have always been competitive in every situation and in every stage of the Championship. We had some bad luck and injuries but we are aware of the good work done.”

Davide Gubellini – Crew Chief

“A bit of bad luck accompanied us throughout the weekend in this final round. However the team worked well and allowed Lorenzo and Elia to find a good feeling with the bike and fight for the podium. “
