CIV ROUND 5 – Sky Junior Team VR46 #RMU
PENULTIMATE APPOINTMENT OF CIV CHAMPIONSHIP, ELIA BARTOLINI FIRST IN RACE 1, THEN DISQUALIFIED DUE NEW RED FLAG RULES. GOOD PERFORMANCE FOR BOTH RIDERS IN RACE 2
Reggio Emilia 25 September 2019, The fifth round of the Italian CIV Championship ended last weekend at Mugello Circuit where the ninth and tenth race of the season took place. Both Sky Junior Team VR46 #RMU riders demonstrated competitiveness in the two days, with different track conditions. An uphill start for Lorenzo Bartalesi who struggled to find the feeling with the bike during Free Practice and Qualifying sessions. Good pace for Elia Bartolini, who achieved the seventh time in the Combined Qualifying, despite a fall did not make it possible for him to improve the third position of Q1.
Good start for Bartolini (Elia) who immediately joined the leading group. Great bagarre throughout the course of the race, interrupted by a group fall resulted in a red flag. The ranking was firstly updated to the previous lap and Bartolini was declared the winner of the race. Subsequently, the aforementioned ranking was revised as all the riders involved in the fall were disqualified as per provision No. 63/19 of 07/24/2019. Lorenzo Bartalesi finished Race 1 in eight place, following complicated Qualifying that forced him to start from the back.
Bad weather conditions on Sunday, with a damp track due to rain interrupted a few minutes before the start of the race. Good recovery by Bartalesi (Lorenzo) starting from eighteenth position, he finished in sixth place. Bartolini (Elia) battled with the leading group for the duration of the race and finished in fifth position.
The next round will take place at Autodromo di Vallelunga Piero Taruffi October 5 and 6.
Elia Bartolini – Rider # 23
“I am very satisfied with my performance in Race 1. I am sorry that the ranking has been revised later but I feel like I’ve achieved the result on the track. I am happy with the feeling that I am finding with the bike, in Race 2 I did good, considering the difficult track conditions.”
Lorenzo Bartalesi – Rider # 69
“Weekend started with some difficulties, I struggled to find feeling with the bike both during Qualifying and Race 1 on Saturday. We recovered in Race 2 with a good comeback from eighteenth to sixth place. Now we will work hard to close the season at its best.”
Davide Gubellini – Crew Chief
“The whole team worked well, we were competitive in all conditions, unfortunately the final result did not show it. In a few days there will be the last round and we hope to do our best for the end of the season.”
