CIV ROUND 2 – Sky Junior Team VR46 #RMU
INSTRUCTIVE WEEKEND FOR SKY JUNIOR TEAM VR46 AT MUGELLO FOR THE SECOND ROUND OF CIV. SIXTH POSITION FOR ELIA BARTOLINI IN RACE 1, LORENZO BARTALESI RETURNS TO THE TRACK LESS THAN TWENTY DAYS FROM THE OPERATION
Mugello Circuit 29 April 2019, The second round of the Italian CIV Championship ended yesterday at the Mugello Circuit where the third and fourth race of the season took place. Lorenzo Bartalesi managed to return to the track after the fractures reported in the first round, less than a month ago. Thanks to his hard work and will, he was able to compete on both days. In a weekend of bad weather conditions, both riders demonstrated their potential but failed to collect what they had hoped for.
Good start for Elia Bartolini battling with the leading group. In a very tense race, Elia finished in fourth position getting the fastest lap. Unfortunately, a penalty of two second placed him back in sixth position.
Lorenzo Bartalesi, despite the obvious physical difficulty, managed to race just one second away from the leading group, finishing in 12th position.
Wet race with rain and hail on the second day. Lorenzo Bartalesi put himself in second place until the last lap, in a very exciting race. Unfortunately he crashed and was not able to be on the podium. Same fate for Elia Bartolini in the second-last lap while he was in third position.
The next round will take place at Autodromo Enzo and Dino Ferrari in Imola on 29 and 30 June.
Lorenzo Bartalesi – Rider # 69
“Important weekend to gain experience. I had to grit my teeth to get there and to be able to compete. On the one hand, I am sorry for the fall on the last lap, because I could easily finish second. On the other hand, I have shown that I can run despite a broken shoulder and a foot that has not yet healed. Now my concern is to return 100% ok physically. I thank my team for their work and support.”
Elia Bartolini – Rider # 23
“Despite having some difficulty finding a feeling with the bike during qualifying, in Race 1 I managed to keep a good pace and stay with the leading group, for which I am satisfied. Too bad for the fall in Race 2, I take it as an experience. In Imola we will return stronger than before”
Davide Gubellini – Crew Chief
“The whole team worked well this weekend at Mugello, Bartalesi and Bartolini proved to be fast on both dry and wet tracks. We missed that bit of luck to get a great result. We will work harder in Imola next month.”
