UPHILL DEBUT ON THE FIRST ROUND OF THE CIV FOR SKY JUNIOR TEAM VR46 #RMU, LORENZO BARTALESI WAS INJURED, TWO CRASHES FOR ELIA BARTOLINI WHEN HE WAS FIGHTING FOR THE FIRST POSITION
Misano Adriatico, 01 April 2019 – The first round of the Italian CIV Championship 2019 ended yesterday. At Misano World Circuit an uphill start for Sky Junior Team VR46 #RMU. In Qualifying 2 Lorenzo Bartalesi crashed due to a contact with another rider, causing him fractures of the tibia, fibula and clavicle. Surgery is scheduled this week, following which there will be a feedback on the duration of the recovery.
Race 1 Good start for Elia Bartolini, after finding a great feeling with the bike and getting the 4th time in the combined Qualifying. Unfortunately on the fourth lap, while he was in second position, he was involved in a crash that ended his race.
Race 2 In a hard-fought second day of competition Elia Bartolini immediately managed to take the lead of the group and confirm the excellent race timing of the previous day. While fighting for the first position, on the twelfth lap, a small mistake caused him to fall.
The next appointment is scheduled on April 27th and 28th at the Mugello Circuit.
Elia Bartolini – Rider # 23
“I am sorry for the outcome of the two races because the weekend started positively. The times were very good and I had a great pace. I could have been able to win on both days. I will learn from my mistakes and I look forward to the next round at Mugello.”
Davide Gubellini – Crew Chief
“Beyond the results, the whole team worked well this weekend, we found a good setup for both riders and we are confident for the next round, with the hope that Lorenzo will recover as soon as possible from the injury.”
Ramona Gattamelati – Team Coordinator
“We leave Misano with a bitter taste for the final result, but with the awareness of the great job done by the rider (Bartolini) and the team during the whole weekend. I am deeply sorry for Bartalesi who couldn’t take part in the two races and who probably won’t be able to be at Mugello as well. We are already at work, concentrating on the second round of CIV.”
