CIV ROUND 1 RESULTS
THIRD AND FOURTH PLACE FOR BARTOLINI ON THE FIRST ROUND, FALL FOR IN RACE 2. UNFORTUNATE WEEKEND FOR THE PREMOTO 3 TEAM
Reggio Emilia, 07 July 2020 – The first round of the 2020 Italian CIV Championship ended Sunday at the Mugello Circuit, where the first two rounds of the competition took place. A positive start for the riders in the Moto 3 category, Bartolini takes third and fourth place. Uphill start for PreMoto 3 with two falls and one disqualification.
Positive debut for Elia Bartolini and Matteo Boncinelli in Moto 3. After qualifying respectively in 4th and 6th position on the grid, they both made a good start and positioned themselves with the leading group. After the detachment of Kevin Zannoni, winner of the test, Bartolini remained in the group of pursuers while Boncinelli continued the race alone, remaining in 6th position until the end of the race. A compelling head-to-head saw Bartolini finish third and conquer the first podium of the season.
Bad day for the PreMoto category 3. Fall for the two rookies Flavio Piccolo and Alex Venturini. Piccolo qualified in 18th position on the grid and with an excellent start he recovered over 10 positions. Unfortunately, a crash on the eighth lap put an end to his race. Fall for Alex Venturini as well, who suffered a small fracture of the humerus, which will require an intervention followed by few weeks recovery period.
Disqualification for Manuel Margarito due to unsuitability of the engine. RMU Racing Team will RMU will appeal and updates will follow to assert their rights in the appropriate venues. The rider had however made some excellent qualifying, with the third fastest time in Q1 and the seventh fastest time in Q2.
On Sunday another exciting day for the Moto 3 category. The leading group fought until the last lap for the victory and Bartolini finished the race in fourth position, recording excellent timings. Fall without consequences for Boncinelli on the twelfth lap while fighting for seventh position. An imperfect physical condition did not allow him to do his best.
Growth day for Flavio Piccolo. Race 2 ended in fourteenth position, probably influenced by the fall of the previous day.
The next Round will take place in three weeks, on 25 and 26 July, at the Misano World Circuit. Here are the remaining stages of the CIV 2020, in a reduced version due to Covid 19:
